What should I wear?

You can’t go wrong with color! Don’t be afraid to have some fun with layers and coordinating colors. Try to avoid big logos and text or graphics. We recommend avoiding white clothing – it can sometimes make a person’s face look washed out. For families or groups, matching outfits or outfits similar in color and tone are best.

How long does my session last?

Your session can last anywhere from 1 – 2 hours (with the exception of newborns and weddings). Please plan ahead and make sure that children are fed or have a snack with you.

Am I able to bring multiple outfits?

Yes! We encourage outfit changes however we recommend a limit of 2 – 3. The session allows 1 – 2 hours of time, therefore keeping the outfit changes to a minimum will maximize our shooting time. Sometimes layering clothes works well. By taking off accessories and layers, it helps to create a variety within the photos.

What can I expect at the photo shoot?

We think it’s important to get to know our clients. We will start the session by talking to you and getting to know a little bit about you. If it’s a kids photo session, it’s important for us to spend some time playing with them and getting them comfortable with us and our equipment before actually taking any photos.

We do typically recommend that the parents refrain from interacting with the kids during the shoot based on our experience in getting the kids to “act normal” and give us those great memorable expressions we all love to see.

How do I order prints from you?

When we mail you the URL link so you can access the images online, we’ll also include a order form (attachment in the email) that you can use to identify and select any photos that you’d like to order prints for.  Just email the completed form back to us and we’ll have the prints available for you within 2 weeks of placing the print order.

How long do I have access to my online gallery?

We’ll make the photos available to you via online access for 60 days from when we provide you the URL link to access the images.  We’ll email you this URL link within 3 weeks of your photo session date.  If you require access after the 60 day period, there will be a $10 charge to “re-activate” the URL link to the images.

How many images are included in my session?

We typically provide 20 – 30 high resolution images for any standard portrait session.  Obviously the type of session will be a factor in how many different images are available.

Does D & F Photography do any retouching of photos?

Yes, we do perform minor retouching of the photos as part of the session fee.  If you wish to have major adjustments (clearing up skin blemishes, etc…), there may be a minor additional charge.  Please contact us for details and rates.

What kind of equipment do you use?

We use all professional Canon cameras (5D Mark II) and lenses along with various lighting equipment (when needed).

Do you include black and white photo enhancements?

Yes.  We’ll use our own judgement on which photos we initially provide in black and white versus color, however, once you’ve had a chance to see the completed photos, we can certainly change any of them to either black and white or color.

Does D & F Photography accept credit cards?

No.  At this time we only accept cash or checks (made out to D and F Photography).
